Disaster Preparedness

Please be prepared for any disaster. There are some common ones in our area: Remember many hotels do not allow pets, boarding places are often full with regulars, and there is no plan in place to rescue your pets in the event of an emergency. You need to have a plan in place.

  • Earthquakes
  • Energy outages
  • Fires
  • Landslides
  • Severe storms

Items you should have:

  • Microchip your pet & register
  • Pet first aid kit
  • Pet food for 2 weeks
  • Fresh water for 2 weeks
  • Crate
  • X-Pen
  • Extra Collar and Leash
  • Long line
  • Toys
  • Grooming items
  • Current photo of your pets
  • Pet medical records
  • List of hotels that allow pets
  • Emergency contact list
  • Radio with batteries
Sassy's Dog Biscuit Recipe

Dog Biscuits1-1/2 Cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup bacon fat
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Preheat oven to 400
Mix all ingredients in a bowl
Mold the dough into shapes about ½ in thick
Place on greased cookie sheet
Bake for 30 minutes
Let cool
Store in paper bag

These biscuits are high in sodium and should not be fed to dogs with heart disease or on low sodium diets.

They are a favorite with Sassy, Lisa, Kiama, & Brisbane. They are very hard cookies as well. Beware it is not recommended to bake these when you are baking Christmas cookies as people are apt to walk by and snag one. My dad says they are harder then rocks, taste ok but will break your teeth.
